Halie Evans

What motivated you to attend law school?

After graduating college, I took a few years off before applying to law school. During those years, I realized that I wanted a career that challenged me and allowed me to positively impact the lives of others. A legal career seemed like the perfect fit for both of those aspirations.

Tell us about your legal work experience (law clerk, externship, internship, etc.).

During my time at CSU Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, I obtained legal work experience as a research assistant, law clerk, and legal extern. During my time as a Research Assistant, I worked with Professor Heidi Robertson, studying issues pertaining to Environmental Law, specifically shale oil and gas regulation. In my second year at CSU C|M|LAW, I was a legal extern at the Department of Justice where I had the opportunity to work under AUSA’s, researching and drafting motions on various topics within criminal law. In addition, I gained work experience as a Law Clerk at Friedman and Nemecek, a Cleveland based criminal defense firm.

What are the best qualities you will bring to a legal employer?

I am efficient, detail-oriented, and good-natured. I work well with little oversight and am able to pick up skills promptly. Additionally, I connect well with others, which I find valuable in the workplace and with clients alike.

What are your goals for your legal career?

I hope to grow within a transactional position that incorporates tax law and estate planning. Eventually, I would like to gain enough knowledge and experience to open my own practice one day.
