The 2010 class of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law boasts more graduates employed in jobs that require a law degree than any public law school in Ohio, according to Ohio Lawyer, the official magazine of the Ohio State Bar Association.
A review of recent public law school graduates throughout Ohio found that 67 percent of Cleveland-Marshall graduates were employed in a position that required a JD. The second highest rate came from The Ohio State University with 61 percent.
“Our office of Career Placement works hard to help students begin building a professional network early on in their studies, and the numbers reflect it,” said Cleveland-Marshall Dean Craig Boise. “We feel an obligation to help our graduates practice law.”
The review found that Cleveland-Marshall also topped the list of Ohio public law schools for the percentage of recent graduates in private law practice with 48 percent. The University of Toledo followed in second place with 46 percent, and Ohio State came in third with 41 percent.
Among recent graduates with student loans, Cleveland-Marshall had the fewest, with 82 percent, compared to Ohio State with the highest at 90 percent, the magazine reported.
“In today’s employment market, many students are seeking greater value from their education dollars,” Boise added. “Our students graduate with confidence in the practical skills and real-world legal experiences their education has provided. Many of the larger law firms also understand that Cleveland-Marshall students are prepared to hit the ground running.”
