“ Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the scholarship you all have so kindly decided to offer me…You all have given me the opportunity to fulfill my destiny and for that I am forever grateful! My son will one day be able to say that his mother was given a chance despite financial hardship, and this blessing can teach him that if you dream big enough, no obstacle will be big enough.” -1L Student
We are an iconic, revered and invaluable asset to the Ohio legal community, and Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio in particular. From our 44% increase in enrollment since 2016, our national award-winning Moot Court and Trial Advocacy teams, our nationally recognized, cutting-edge Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection and Global Space Law Center, to our nationally acclaimed Rawson Learning Commons – we are a law school on the rise.
But as we celebrate our many successes, we also have our challenges. The past several years have seen a national reduction in applicants to law schools and growing concerns about high levels of student educational debt. Support for student scholarships has taken on added urgency given the intense competition among law schools for the most talented students. We are known as a law school of both excellence and opportunity, so scholarships for students in financial need is especially important to us.
We enrolled 144 students in the fall of 2019. Most of our students were admitted to more than one law school and received more than one scholarship offer. We were able to offer most of our students a scholarship, and without that scholarship, many likely would have chosen another law school.
Here is why your support is so critical:
If we had relied only on state/university support and existing endowed and other scholarship funds, we would have been able to offer only 2 scholarships in 2019 and we would have enrolled fewer than 50 students!
Donations for scholarships made all the difference. For a number of our students, a scholarship made the difference between getting a legal education or sacrificing their dream. Without the scholarship support we received from so many alumni and friends, we would not have been able to enroll the largest first year class in eight years.
In these final days of 2019, you can make all the difference again.

Now, we must do it again, and it won’t be easy in this extraordinarily competitive law school environment. But we do have a distinct advantage……we are rising. Help Fuel a Law School on the Rise
