Meet Jacob Pullar! Jacob has worked as a law clerk in the City of Parma Law Department and externed with the Ohio Environmental Council and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio (Criminal Division). Jacob is seeking full-time employment and would love to work in government or a small to medium firm with interests in environmental law, criminal law, estate planning and government.

What motivated you to attend law school?

I decided to go to law school because it is the career path, I believe I could make the biggest difference during my life. I started and finished school with a strong desire to work in environmental law. Law school has helped to expand my interests to other career paths like criminal law, working in government, estate planning, and many others. Above all else my motivation is to contribute to the communities I live in by representing the people or environment I call home.

Tell us about your legal work experience (law clerk, externship, internship, etc.).

During my time at CSU Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, I obtained legal work experience as a research assistant, law clerk, and legal extern. During my time as a Research Assistant, I worked with Professor Heidi Robertson, studying issues pertaining to Environmental Law, specifically shale oil and gas regulation. In my second year at CSU C|M|LAW, I was a legal extern at the Department of Justice where I had the opportunity to work under AUSA’s, researching and drafting motions on various topics within criminal law. In addition, I gained work experience as a Law Clerk at Friedman and Nemecek, a Cleveland based criminal defense firm.

What are the best qualities you will bring to a legal employer?

I am a tireless worker and constantly strive to keep learning. From intricate legal changes to maintaining a diverse garden, I am always trying to learn more. Aside from that, I pride myself in being a creative problem solver.

What are your goals for your legal career?

My first and main goal is to gain full time employment. I would love to work in government or a small to medium firm in many areas including the ones I listed above. In a perfect world I would also gain litigation experience early in my career.
