Washington Post writer Laura Meckler will talk about her recently published book, "Dream Town: Shaker Heights and the Quest for Racial Equity." Her book examines the nationally recognized Shaker Heights School District's experience with racially integrated education. She will talk about what's worked and what are some of the continuing challenges that Shaker schools face in striving to ensure a racially inclusive and equal integrated education for all.
This talk is the first in a year-long series of events planned by CSU|LAW Professor Reginald Oh in recognition of the 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, the seminal 1954 Supreme Court decision that held that racially segregated schools are inherently unequal.
