FlightPath Program Application

Thank you for your interest in Cleveland State University College of Law’s FlightPath program!

Application Deadlines

  • January 31st, 2025 to attend CSU|LAW Fall 2025
  • March 28th, 2025 to attend CSU|LAW Fall 2026 – applications accepted on a rolling basis, however, preference is given to those who apply by the deadline.

The Cleveland State University College of Law (“CSU|LAW”) FlightPath program is a law school pipeline program for prospective law students who face structural barriers and challenges to accomplishing their goals. This program charts your legal education flightpath from pre-law school admission through your success in law school and beyond.

FlightPath consists of a pre-law program and a CSU|LAW post-admissions program. The Pre-Law Opportunity Fellows program provides resources to aid in an application for admission to CSU|LAW and information about a legal education. The Post-Admission Success Scholars program helps ensure success at CSU|LAW as well as post-graduate success.

Application Requirements and Eligibility Criteria

  1. Submit electronic application through CSU|LAW FlightPath Program Website
  2. Provide at least one Letter of Recommendation, no more than two
  3. Provide resume including undergraduate cumulative GPA and most recent semester GPA (if still enrolled in college)
  4. Provide an Original Personal Statement (maximum 2 pages) describing the following:
    1. How do you meet the required eligibility criteria?
    2. Why do you want to join the program?
    3. Explain your commitment to completing the program. 
  5. Interview with Selection Committee

Eligibility Criteria

Required Criteria (Please explain in your personal statement which criteria is relevant to you and how)

  • An applicant from an economically disadvantaged and low-income background.
  • An applicant who can demonstrate current significant financial hardship.

Preferred Criteria (Please explain in your personal statement which criteria is relevant to you and how)

  • An applicant who is a first-generation college student
  • An applicant who is a first-generation law student
  • An applicant who has demonstrated determination by overcoming adversity
  • An applicant with unique family or personal circumstances or experiences that lead to the student having a unique ability to contribute positively to CSU|LAW
