“The President and the Congress … can say what they think they think, but it rests with the Supreme Court to decide what they have really thought.” ― President Theodore Roosevelt
This morning’s message is about the First Monday in October, and the first Friday in November.
First Monday in October
The U.S. Supreme Court starts its new term today– the first Monday in October – an historic tradition that goes back to 1917. The Court will hear its first in-person oral arguments since the coronavirus pandemic forced the proceedings to go virtual 19 months ago.
The nine justices will consider pivotal cases that broach some of the most contentious issues in our nation, including religion, guns and abortion.

First Friday in November
Please also join us on the first Friday in November - November 5, 5:30pm - for our 4th Annual C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Celebration honoring our 2021 C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Honorees.
The CSU C|M|LAW Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to honor the outstanding contributions to the success and prestige of our law school by distinguished alumni, community leaders, and former faculty and staff.
The November 5 Hall of Fame event gives us the opportunity not only to honor our distinguished honorees but also to raise much-needed funds for scholarships for first year students. The Hall of Fame celebration is the only annual fundraising event sponsored by the law school.
It is our single best opportunity to raise funds for much-needed student scholarships.
Please make a contribution or pledge this week to our November 5 Hall of Fame celebration of an amount ranging from $120 to $12,000. This year’s event will be virtual, and if you make a contribution for the event, we will send you the Zoom link a few days before the celebration. Please visit csulaw.org/hof_registration to purchase tickets, sponsorships, or an ad in our program book in honor of one or more of the 2021 inductees.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay Committed to Living Justice.
Have a great day. Have a great week.
