“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” – Mother Teresa
Not a week goes by without my receiving positive emails and notes about our outstanding faculty and staff and about Cleveland-Marshall. Below are just a few recent expressions of kind words I’m very pleased to share.
Dean Fisher, “Yesterday, I received the copy of To Kill a Mockingbird that you gifted me. I loved reading this book in school, before I knew I wanted to go to law school, but I didn't know why I was so moved by the novel. Now I understand why. Thank you for sending me this book and reminding me why I am so excited to study law. I am very excited for next fall!” – Admitted Student
Dean (Barbara) Andelman (Assistant Dean for Admissions), “Thank you so very much for this wonderful news! I was with my 12 year old son when I read your email and we talked about how new dreams emerge throughout life and that there is no timeline for learning. His “old” 41 year old mom is beginning a new adventure!” -Admitted Student
Dean Andelman, “I just wanted to reach out to you and say thank you again for your help at the open house yesterday… I wanted to say that I was taken aback by how supportive and helpful the faculty and staff were at the open house. The supportive culture at Cleveland-Marshall was unlike any other law school I have seen and your willingness to help me out is a testament to that notion…It is clear to me that Cleveland-Marshall not only cares deeply about the law, but about students' success as well.” – Admitted Student
Professors (Patti) Falk and (Jonathan) Witmer-Rich, “I just wanted to drop a line to say thank you for how you structured your Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure classes. Today I found out I passed the bar. While studying for it, your two classes were in lockstep with the bar study materials, which was very much appreciated when trying to absorb all of the bar material/concepts.” -Brian Asquith ’19
Professor (Peter) Garlock, “I wanted to reach out to thank you for the way you structure our class and help us to prepare for exams. I appreciate the time you take to write out questions for each class, and for holding a review session on a Friday to discuss essay formatting and response expectations. Especially for first year students, the extra effort you put into the class goes a long way in helping us feel prepared and confident in our ability to succeed on exams.” - 1L Student
“The C|M|LAW-CSU faculty is very diverse and the description of the myriad of activities with which it is involved outside of the classroom exemplifies how diverse it is and makes us think about how much more there is in the world to explore. Congratulations on reporting about these wonderful activities. It is truly impressive.” -Alan Jay Rom ’72
“What a wonderful email I received yesterday listing the scope, breadth, and depth of our faculty's recent scholarship and presentations. It is truly amazing to see them on national TV, like Mark Sundahl in his space law expertise, as well as in newspaper comments by [former Dean] Steve Steinglass about Ohio law. I was so fortunate to be able to attend C|M|LAW and learn from so many wonderful faculty and then come back to teach there for nearly two decades. Most of all, it was so nice to see them each recognized and honored because they are a huge part of what makes C|M|LAW excellent.” -Barbara Tyler '89
