Monday Morning Message 9.9.19 First Monday. Last Friday.

“It's hard not to have a big year at the Supreme Court.” – U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court starts its new term – the first Monday in October - an historical tradition that goes back to 1917.

With the backdrop of the dramatic congressional impeachment inquiry, the Supreme Court will hear major cases about LGBTQ rights, immigration, abortion, guns, and religion.

Tomorrow, the court will hear three cases on the question of whether Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 guarantees nationwide protection to LGBTQ people from employment discrimination.

Every day, we balance the pull of the past, the grip of the present, and the power of the future. Our success as a law school will be determined by our ability to balance our focus between the past, present and future.

We honor our historic past; we teach law and live justice in the moment; and we plan our innovative future.

That is why our Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (C|M|LAW) Hall of Fame is so important to who we are.

Please join us on the last Friday in October – Friday, October 25, 2019, 5:30-8pm.

That’s the date of our 3rd Annual C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Celebration honoring our 2019 C|M|LAW Hall of Fame Honorees.

The October 25 Hall of Fame event gives us the opportunity not only to honor our distinguished inductees, but also to raise much-needed funds for scholarships for our students. The Hall of Fame celebration is the only annual fundraising event sponsored by the law school.

It is our single best opportunity to raise funds for much-needed student scholarships.

See the invitation below.
