A survey of the fundamentals of bankruptcy law, including the “Automatic stay” of creditor collection activity, the creation of the debtor’s bankruptcy “estate,” the treatment of “executory contracts,” the trustee’s “avoiding” powers, the nature of “claims” against the debtor’s estate, the individual debtor’s right to a “discharge,” “exemptions,” the powers and jurisdiction of the bankruptcy court, and the processes of “liquidation,” “adjustment” of debts of an individual debtor, and “reorganization” of a business.
