Center for Health Law & Policy

A+ Health Law Rating

CSU|LAW's Health Law program received an A+ rating in PreLaw Magazine

LEARN LAW IN A TOP MEDICAL COMMUNITY AND VITAL LEGAL CENTER.

Cleveland State University College of Law students study in a region with a thriving health care industry that allows for valuable experiential learning experiences and prestigious employment opportunities at world-renowned health care organizations, including Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and MetroHealth System.

The Center for Health Law and Policy stands out because of our industry-aligned, practice-focused curriculum with courses designed and continually updated through ongoing dialogue with health care leaders throughout the region. Students learn the exact skills that employers need from faculty members as well as adjunct professors who are practicing health law attorneys.

Whether it is evaluating the legal needs of the patients at a local hospital, focusing on compliance for a major health insurance provider, fighting medical malpractice at a private firm or working for a government agency, CSU|LAW provides the education, experiences and network to achieve career success.

MENTORING PROGRAM

Each student in the program may request a mentor from our engaged network of practitioners.

HEALTH LAW ADVISORY COUNCIL

The strong legal network of the area helped build our Health Law Advisory Council, made up of leading practitioners in private and public organizations. Their input keeps our program well-connected to the current climate and future of health law.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

The Journal of Law and Health

The Journal is a law review devoted to publishing timely and informative articles in the area of health and the law. Students who have completed their first year of law school and rank in the top twenty percent of their class are invited to join the journal. The Journal of Law and Health publishes two issues per year.

Health Law Society

Affiliated with the American Health Lawyer's Association, the Health Law Society aims to connect students to the broader legal world of health law, and is dedicated to raising the visibility of health law issues at CSU College of Law. The Society pursues this goal by bringing academics and practitioners to CSU|LAW to discuss these issues with students, either through panel discussions, symposia, or more informal events. This semester the Health Law Society hosted a Blood Drive and organized travels to the Annual Fundamentals of Health Law Conference in Chicago Illinois. A total of 19 students attended the conference. In addition to the events the Health Law Society has had an overwhelming rise in membership.
