CSU College of Law will accept GRE scores. We may also consider and accept a small number of applicants who submit a JD-Next score.
This page contains important information for applicants considering applying with a GRE or JD-Next test score:
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- If you take both the LSAT and the GRE or JD-Next, you must send to us all reportable LSAT scores. If you have already taken the LSAT, all reportable LSAT scores will be included with your application when you apply through LSAC. You may elect to submit your GRE and/or JD-Next scores in addition to your LSAT score but you may not submit a GRE and/or JD-Next score in place of a reportable LSAT score.
- If you do not take the LSAT, you may apply with the GRE and/or JD-Next score only.
- GRE scores are valid for five years. If you have multiple reportable GRE scores, send your GRE scores from all test administrations in the last five years. For information on sending past scores, see Ordering Additional Score Reports on the ETS website.
- Apply online through the Law School Admission Council at www.LSAC.org. Call the LSAC Help Desk at (215) 968-1393 in the event you encounter technical difficulties using the online application service.
- Registration for the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) is required (see below).
- Do not send any physical mail to the law school or email any materials intended to become part of your admissions file. Supporting documents must be submitted as attachments to the electronic application and will not be made a part of your file if submitted directly to the law school.
- Applicants are encouraged to apply early in the admission cycle, preferably by March 1. Completed applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning in December.
ALL APPLICANTS APPLYING TO CSU|LAW WITH A GRE AND/OR A JD-NEXT SCORE ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:
- Successfully complete a bachelor's degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Department of Education prior to the start of law school classes.
- Complete, certify, and submit an electronic application for admission.
- Provide a minimum of two letters of recommendation. Letters must be submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service.
- Provide an original personal statement that is your own work and represents your best writing.
- Disclose and submit a statement of all relevant facts pertaining to any and all probations, suspensions, warnings, sanctions, and dismissals by any college or university for academic or non-academic reasons; criminal charges pending against you; convictions or granted deferred adjudications or diversions for any offense, felony or misdemeanor, including traffic offenses but excluding minor moving violations and parking tickets. Failure to provide truthful answers may result in revocation of admission, disciplinary action and/or dismissal by the law school, and/or denial of permission to practice law by the state in which you seek admission, et cetera.
- Take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and/or the JD-Next exam. Send your GRE scores from all test administrations in the last five years to CSU|LAW by using the GRE School Code 4881. To register for the GRE, please visit https://www.ETS.org/gre
- Register and pay for the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS). This service will be the clearinghouse for your writing samples, academic transcripts and letters of recommendation. You must register for the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) even if you will not be applying with an LSAT score. CSU College of Law will automatically request your law school report from the Law School Admission Council once your application is received.
