During this Coronavirus outbreak, our highest priority is the health and safety of our entire campus community – students, faculty, and staff. We are working to ensure ongoing effective teaching and learning, while also protecting public health and observing effective social distancing.

In the midst of the current anxiety and uncertainty, we also want to share good news when it happens. As we refocus on classes beginning on Monday, we are pleased to share that Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law rose 24 places in the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Law School rankings, placing CSU C|M|LAW 102nd among all law schools in the country. The 2021 U.S. News & World Report rank marks the highest placement for Cleveland-Marshall in school history.

Cleveland-Marshall’s 24-point jump in the rankings was the second largest increase of any law school in the nation. CSU C|M|LAW ranks fourth among Ohio’s nine law schools and is the highest-ranked public law school in Northern Ohio.

CSU C|M|LAW also ranked as the top part-time law school in Ohio with a national part-time ranking of 43.

“The tremendous increase in our national ranking is a tribute to the hard work of our students, full-time and adjunct faculty, staff, alumni, and the university,” said Lee Fisher, Dean and Joseph C. Hostetler-BakerHostetler Chair in Law. “While rankings don’t show the entire picture, they affirm our strategic vision and student-centered initiatives are guiding us in the right direction.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty and students, bar exam passage rate, and the employment rate of recent graduates

CSU Cleveland-Marshall was ranked nationally ranked by the U.S. News & World Report in 11 specialty areas: Business/Corporate law; Clinical training; Constitutional law; Contracts/Commercial; Criminal law; Environmental law; Health Care law; Intellectual Property law; International law; Legal Writing; and Tax law.
