Taking Action for the Aging Population: Confronting Legal & Mental Health Challenges for a Growing Population

 

As the U.S. prepares for the significant increase of the aging population, there must also be concern and consideration for the needs of the population from legal issues to mental health that impact healthcare, employment, housing/long-term care planning, and socialization.  This program is designed to begin a discussion about these issues as they are going to be important for those in both the law and mental health to think about the needs of the aging population and perhaps differently than they have before given the tremendous growth of this population.

9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.:   Keynote Presenter:  Nina A. Kohn, JD, David M. Levy Professor of Law, Syracuse University College of Law, Distinguished Scholar in Elder Law at the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School

9:30 – 10:15 am:  Legal Presenter: Carmen M. Scott, JD: Shareholder and Partner, Sarringhaus & Scott, Co., LPA

10:15 - 10:30 a.m.:  Break       

10:30 - 11:00 a.m.:  Provider Perspective: Carol Shaw Burns, Ph.D., MPA, LNHA

11:00 - 11:45 a.m.:  Mental Health Professional Presenter: Beverly M. Griffor, PhD, JD, MBA, Clinical Director at Arbor Mountain Therapy & Assessment, and Managing Partner, Collis, Griffor & Hendra, PC

11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.:  Panel Discussion & Final Comments
